Our certified technician will carefully vacuum with a soft horsehair brush, and/or dust with soft brushes to remove dry soils.
We will identify problem areas, especially on perimeter upholstered seams (welting) and difficult areas (headrests, arm rests, etc.). We carefully treat these areas with extra attention.
We use different cleaning agents for different types of leathers. They are specially formulated as not to over-dry the leather, as typically occurs in home DIY efforts. It’s important to not over-wet any leather surface, so our certified technicians use the foamy part of the detergent solution with natural sea sponges to gently work the soil out in circular motions.
We carefully apply specially formulated spotters as needed to help eliminate trouble areas. It is important to not “over do it” with leather. Special attention is often required with ballpoint ink stains and other spots. Some stains can be lightened, but complete removal may cause more damage and a larger problem. Our certified technicians will take every precaution to ensure the best results.
Following cleaning, our certified technicians carefully groom the entire piece of furniture with clean, soft, lint-free absorbent towels to remove as much moisture as possible. This process also aids in grooming the surface, especially with suedes and nubuck.
The most important step, especially following a detailed cleaning effort, is leather conditioning and protection. This is NOT optional, and should be done periodically for the life of the piece. Leather was once living skin, and no longer has the naturally recurring oils to “hydrate” the surface as it once did. We apply a high-quality leather conditioner (or protector, depending on the application) containing natural waxes and fats that closely replicate conditioners found naturally in the living skin.
Our certified technician will guide you through the cleaned furniture pieces for your approval before we pack up our tools. We will re-clean any areas of concern. As always, WE aren’t happy unless YOU are happy!
